Good day,
I would like to share my opinion on the Kukini stroller. I am a mom of an eight-year-old Eric and ten-year-old Leon. Exactly a week ago we received the stroller we had ordered back in September for Eric. It arrived at the last minute, because we had a trip planned to Karpacz for a long weekend including conquering Mount Śnieżka for the first time by me and the kids (because my Husband had already been there). The first “meeting” with the stroller surprised me very positively with its weight – it’s incredibly lightweight, folds easily and I can put it in the trunk without effort (and I’m rather a slightly-built person). The design itself is great, because there are no unnecessary elements that add to the weight of the stroller. We bought a bicycle tow bar, because we are quite active people, a canopy and an under seat storage basket, however, the back of the backrest has a very roomy pocket and you can really put a lot in there. The handbrake is sensational , although it would be ideal if, in addition to this parking brake, a similar one was available for the rear wheels, because it would be much easier to go downhill, but I understand that this is another element that raises the price and kilograms of the stroller.

I found out too late that there was an option to buy a swivel front wheel, as this surely makes it very easy to move around in urban spaces. But without this option, this stroller is also really maneuverable. Inflatable large wheels are ideal for such trips, and thanks to shock absorbers Erik rode in really comfortable conditions. We are very happy with the seat: it’s spacious and soft although at the same time maintains a proper form, I do not think that the cushion will wear out too quickly. The 5-point safety belts are fantastic, they’re especially useful while cycling with the stroller attached. The strap protector between the legs is also an important thing for my Son. Well, and the possibility to lower the backrest is a cool thing, during a long ride it worked perfectly (easy to operate with one element). We also bought a folding canopy – you know, to have protection from sun or rain; in time we will also think about a rain cover, because when Erik goes with his class on a trip and rain happens, I could protect him this way. But that’s an additional expense that has to wait. The important thing now is that we have a device which gives us the mobility.

To sum up:
among moms like me, sharing information about proven equipment, doctor, center, or any method of supporting your child or relieving his already not easy life – is priceless. It’s well known that we bear a lot of costs all the time, so finding a proven source right away is half the battle and saves time and money. In our community, we do our best to support each other as much as we can, so today we have already provided a stroller for a fitting for the Son of a friend with whom we met at a rehabilitation camp. Another friend is already waiting for a stroller fitting later this week. We happened to buy ill-fitting equipment, so we tried to sell it on the online marketplace for really symbolic money, and the money from the sale covers the rehabilitation expenses or other current needs of Erik. However, I’m not much of a seller 😉 before we sell something, I like to talk to the parent, because I would not have the conscience to sell someone something that is not suitable for their child’s condition (and I know that people even sell orthoses that were custom-made for another child…). For example, we hit like a bullet in the fence with the cushion… Completely unsuitable for Eric… And now it is dusting in the attic…

I also very much appreciate the fact that we were able to take advantage of the National Health Fund grant for the purchase of the Kukini stroller, so we only had to finance part of it with foundation funds, and with the support of an organized fund-raiser for Erik.
