DTR/DTE_173 6-point safety vest AIR with hip stabilizer
The product consists of a chest part (harness) and a pelvic strap. Both the harness and the pelvic support have a wide range of adjustment, allowing for an individual fit for the user.
The 6-point AIR harness with pelvic strap keeps the user in the correct sitting position. The product has the option of attaching to the seat back with shoulder straps, which maintain the joints in external rotation and the user’s shoulder girdle in a stable position. This solution prevents the patient from a pathological flexion pattern of the upper limbs and also prevents their uncontrolled tendon reflexes.
The AIR 6-point harness is made from a very thick and perforated 3D knit fabric, which allows the body to breathe and the harness does not cause pressure and skin injuries, even on the user’s sensitive skin.
The pelvic strap, is attached to the harness with frontal straps. It keeps the pelvis in the physiological position as much as it is possible.
In addition, this pelvic strap keeps the patient securely on the seat of the wheelchair or rehabilitation chair, even with very little postural control of the user. Made of firm, pressure-reducing neoprene, it has wrap around straps that do not allow the pelvis to extend forward while sitting.
By using the length of these wrap around straps, we can adjust the amount of forward freedom of movement left to the user.
The pelvic support is anatomic shaped. It fits to the groin area perfectly, avoiding irritation of the inner thighs and allowing the product to remain comfortable even for those with a scissor pattern of lower limbs.
The AIR 6-point harness is fully adjustable in circumference, width and length of the shoulder straps for a customised fit. The harness ensures proper positioning of the trunk and pelvis in the sitting position. It perfectly stabilises the sternum and reduces excessive flexion pattern. Effectively improves head control, facilitates swallowing and breathing.
The use of the product in people with limited consciousness when assisted by a carer is possible due to the front secured zip to facilitate donning the product and the additional buckles securing the fastening, acting as a safety device in the event of a zip failure.
